Impact and Hurricane Door Repair Impact glass is heavy. Your rollers feel every pound.
Impact sliders carry laminated glass in heavy frames, and all that weight rides on a few small wheels. We repair the moving parts: rollers, track, multi-point locks and alignment. We don’t touch the glass.

Sound like your door?
Signs your impact door needs work
Heavy doors hide their wear well, right up until they won’t move. Watch for these.
Send us a photo so we come with the right parts.
Email us a photo- It takes real effort to start it moving, even on a clean track
- The multi-point lock won’t engage unless you lift or push the panel
- The handle is stiff or won’t throw all the way
- The panel drags or scrapes on the sill
- You can see a gap at the interlock when it’s closed
- It got harder to close after a storm
What we do
What we do on impact doors
-
Heavy-duty rollers
We fit rollers rated for the panel’s weight, usually tandem or stainless, so the load is spread and the bearings hold up in salt air.
-
Track and caps
Heavy panels wear rails faster. We clean and straighten the track, and cap it in stainless when the rail is worn out.
-
Multi-point locks
We adjust the panel and every keeper so each locking point engages, and replace lock parts and handles that have failed.
-
Alignment and seals
The panel is set level and square so it closes flush at the interlock. Then worn pile and seals are replaced.
Why impact doors eat rollers
Laminated impact glass is heavier than ordinary glass, and the frames are built heavier to hold it. All of that sits on the rollers at each end of the panel. Standard rollers under an impact panel wear out fast, and once one fails, the others carry its share and follow it. The extra weight also presses sand harder into the rail, so the track wears faster too.
That’s why impact doors usually get heavy-duty rollers, often tandem sets with two wheels at each end, and a stainless track cap once the rail is worn. The right parts for a heavy door last far longer than light-duty ones.
A multi-point lock is only as good as its alignment
Many impact sliders lock at two or more points along the edge of the panel, each with its own hook and keeper. If the panel has dropped even a little, one of the hooks can miss while the handle still feels locked. Lock the door and try to rock the panel in the frame. If it moves, some of the points aren’t holding.
Plan ahead: Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. Spring is the time to get a heavy slider locking and sealing properly, before the rush.
What we don’t do
We don’t replace glass or install new doors. We fix the one you have.
Mechanical repair only. We don’t replace impact glass or install impact doors and shutters. The frame and the anchoring that hold the door in the wall are outside our work too.

FAQ
Impact & hurricane doors: straight answers
How much does impact door repair cost?
Every door is different, so we don’t guess over the phone. A specialist looks at your door and gives you an exact price, free, before any work starts.
No quotes over the phone, by text or by photo. Several doors? Ask about multi-door savings.
Do you replace impact glass?
No. We don’t replace glass of any kind, and we don’t install doors. We repair the moving parts of the impact door you have: rollers, track, locks and alignment.
Can you get parts for my impact door?
Often, yes. Impact doors use heavier hardware, and some parts are specific to the manufacturer. A photo of the roller or lock, and of any label on the frame, helps us find the right match before we come out.
Why is my impact door so hard to slide?
Usually worn rollers under a heavy panel, a worn or dirty track, or both. Impact panels are heavy enough that even a slightly worn roller makes a big difference.
When is the right time to have an impact door serviced?
Spring, before hurricane season. A tune-up gets the door sliding and every lock point engaging before you need it, not the week a storm is in the forecast.
Is it safe to keep using an impact door that’s off the track?
No. Stop and leave it where it is. An impact panel that comes out of the track is heavy enough to fall and hurt someone, and forcing it back can bend the frame. Book a free estimate and tell us it’s off the track.
