Most of the village is on the mainland, but parts are on Jupiter Island (in Martin County), north and south of Coral Cove Park. Reaching Tequesta from the south or east means crossing a bridge. Part of Tequesta is beachside and part is mainland, and the doors show it. Beachside sliders get salt spray and sand in the track. Mainland ones mostly suffer from old grease, grit and worn rollers.
Wind-driven rain off the ocean is hard on the bottom of a slider. The track is built to drain through weep holes, and when those clog with sand the water has nowhere to go but inside. Clearing them, and replacing flattened brush pile weatherstrip, often stops the leak.
