Island doors
The Cape Canaveral version of a stuck slider
Cape Canaveral is a small barrier-island city (2.3 square miles) between the Atlantic and the Banana River, next to Port Canaveral. Out here the air itself is the problem. Salt settles on everything, and roller bearings, screws and the lock keeper are the parts that rust first. Once the rollers seize, the door scrapes along instead of rolling.
Sand is the other half of it. It blows in under the screen, settles in the bottom track and gets ground in every time the door rolls. Leave it long enough and the rollers wear a groove in the aluminum. A stainless steel track cap fits over the worn track and gives them a smooth surface again.
